Baba's ten days in Ranchi

Ac. Dasharatha

In my early days as a margii, I stayed in Ranchi for ten days. Five to seven persons used to accompany Baba on these trips. Everyday we used to go to the bank of the river Suvarnarekha.

Here I shall narrate thee incidents.

1.

We went to see the Hundrufalls. We sat down nearby. The water falls with a powerful speed. Just as shreds of cotton is dispersed all around when it is cleaned, so water flies around in soft sprinkles. It is very beautiful see. For some time we enjoyed the sight.

But then it began to rain. Four persons lifted up a blanket to protect Baba from the rain. Baba remained seated below. I was also sitting there. None could be prevented from becoming drenched. Baba also got drenched through and through. My dhoti kurta were khadi. I used to wear khadi only. I was a habitual wearer of khadi. The result was that while Baba’s clothes and other peoples’ clothes became dry soon, my clothes continued to remain wet all the time.

Throughout the day I remained in these wet clothes. Only when I returned to the residence at 10 p.m, I could change my clothes. Even so, nothing happened to me. Neither got I a cold nor fever. I remained alright. My health was not adversely affected.

2.

One day we were walking on the banks of the banks of the river Suvarnarekha. On the way sometimes we saw an eight-handed statue and sometimes a statue of ten hands. Baba was speaking about which custom was prevalent at what point in time.

In this context, once we felt a very beautiful smell coming. Now, when this scent was everywhere I began to think as to from where it was coming. The wonder of wonders was that there were sounds and sounds all around but neither was there a tree, nor a plant nor a creeper nor anything like this far and wide. Therefore, I enquired. Shri A. R. Sarangijii who was also with us said, “Did we not get this fragrance in Jamalpur?”

Then Baba began to enquire about the mantra used while Tattva Dharana is done at the muladhara cakra. But we had not yet been taught this mantra with the third lesson. Acaryajii had only told us to recollect the colour and shape and had not taught us any mantra. I therefore, said that I had not received this mantra. Perhaps, during these days, the mantra was not taught. Only the figure and colour of each cakra was taught. Baba felt somewhat angry at that time. Thereafter in the Tattva Dharana lesson this Mantra started being taught along with other details.

3.

We used to live with Shrii Devi Chanda Sharma in Ranchi. At that time Baba had entrusted some work to me; as per that I had to send deserving persons to Baba. In that connection I had to enquire something from Baba. Baba spoke very briefly at that time but His face became so fierce that I felt very much afraid of Him. I felt so much afraid that His face became a fixture in my mind - so fearful.

Thereafter I did not stay near Baba at all. And perhaps for two days I was on my bed in an unconscious state. But Baba was enquiring in between about my condition. I came to know of this later. After two days I was alright. Thereafter Baba said ”You have been away for ten days from the school. If you want you can get a medical certificate also." I did not take any medical certificate. I applied without medical certificate and leave was also sanctioned without the certificate.

When I returned from Ranchi, Baba said, “Had you remained at home you would have died from food poisoning.” When Baba was going to Ranchi from Jamalpur, He had said, “Dasarath you will come to Ranchi.” I said “Yes Baba, I shall come.” At that very time, I had decided that I would go. Several obstacles presented themselves and there were reasons for me not to go. But I did go. Kedar Babu had come from Ranchi to take Baba there. There was no need for me to go. Even then I did go and the result was what I have just narrated.

After the above incident, I would go to Baba only when called and would not dare to approach Him otherwise.
